Neve 1073 DPA

Its lush sound with classic Neve signature makes it the consummate mic pre for recording vocals, guitars, and acoustic instruments of all descriptions. The Neve 1073 is the most sought after, and most copied microphone preamplifier in the world. It is small wonder that when asked which one piece of audio gear they could not live without, more professionals chose the Neve 1073 than any other single item.

The 3124+ is designed with the professional engineer in mind, offering four high quality microphone preamps. Utilising the same preamp circuitry used in all API consoles, the 3124+ is equally at home in the studio, recording truck or on the stage.

The Hi-Z front panel input goes directly to the op-amp, allowing a low level input such as a guitar or bass to be amplified without a matching transformer or direct box. This Hi-Z input can take input levels as high as +22, making it perfect for keyboards and other high level devices.

The C2 compressor houses two independent mono compressors, or in stereo mode, the left-hand controls operate both audio channels, with the right-hand controls not used, giving true Stereo operation. The characteristic sound of this unit arises mostly from the fast response at the onset of compression which, when delayed to occur around the mid range attack settings, results in a window through which transients can still pass. When used across a mix, or with any dynamic programme, this has the effect of adding 'punch', as the side-chain 'breathes' around these transients, while still controlling overall levels.
