The Genelec 8351A is a 3-way monitor featuring a ground breaking Acoustically Coaxial design. At the centre of the typically Genelec looking outer enclosure is the same midrange/tweeter driver that has evolved from the 8260 but that is where the similarities end. At first glance it looks like the midrange/tweeter driver is all that you get but behind what Genelec call the “Maximised Directivity Controlled Waveguide (MaxDCW)” are two concealed 215mm x 100mm oval drivers.
The concealed woofers allow the midrange/tweeter driver a large wave image with identical performance in both vertical and horizontal orientation and the acoustic image stays consistent even if the listener moves off axis.
The Genelec 8351 utilises the same DSP as the 8320 and 8330 models which allows for repeatable, consistent performance over flexible proprietary network using the Genelec Loudspeaker Manager (GLM). Genelec AutoCal™ measures and automatically align every monitor on the network for level, timing, and equalisation of room response anomalies.
The Genelec 8351A is the perfect solution for somebody who has limited space and wants a monitor they can use in any acoustic environment and produce excellent results. Genelec have not yet released a price or release date for the 8351’s so check back for more information soon.
