Mercury MSC-72 - Mic Pre/DI & Pultec Style EQ
The Mercury MSC-72 is a studio channel featuring a high quality microphone pre-amplifier/DI and a Pultec Style 2 band equaliser.
The Mercury M72s is Mercury's flagship, valve studio microphone pre-amplifier. The M72s is based on the highly sought after vintage amplifier module, the 'Telefunken/ Siemens v72s.' which is famous for being in Abbey Roads REDD.37 consoles and being used on all the early Beatles recordings by George Martin.
The Mercury M72s has variable gain of 28dB-58dB and an additional -16dB--28dB pad which is switchable. The M72s also has 48v phantom power/ a phase reversal switch and uses 2x EF806s tubes per channel.
The Mercury MSC-72 also features a Pultec style equaliser, the EQ-H1. The EQ-H1 is an open and silky sound and is great for adding a powerful but natural low end to kick drums or almost any source that needs more energy. The EQ-H1 is equally as great for adding air to a vocal take or any other acoustic instrument such as acoustic guitar or piano.
The Mercury EQ-H1 amplifier uses a 1x 12AX7 and 1x 12BH7, per channel.
