The Glensound Broadcasters' Mobile Phone - now with Glensound HD Voice, giving you up to 7 kHz audio bandwidth on a 3G (UMTS) network for the same price as a normal GSM call.
The GS-MPIHD Range features AMR-WB (adaptive multirate wide band), sometimes known as G722.2. This algorithm is more commonly known as HD Voice. This allows you to achieve a 7kHz audio link on a normal 3G mobile voice call – double that of a normal call. This extra bandwidth makes a significant difference in call quality, with improved lower frequency response and much clearer audio. It is good enough quality to be used for on air contribution in news and sport coverage.
Glensound HD Voice connects as a 3G (UMTS) GSM call, not a data call, so when connected you will not lose call quality over the duration of a call, or have data issues, as often experienced on an IP call.
If 3G (UMTS) is not available, the call will connect as a standard 2G GSM call. Both ends of the connection must be a Glensound GS-MPIHD unit for a Glensound HD Voice 7kHz call.
Availability of AMR-WB is network specific, and varies from country to country. In the UK, HD Voice is available from the Orange, T-Mobile and 3 Networks.
The GS-MPI004HD has a single input switchable between mic and line, with an input level control and compressor. The headphone output is on a 6.35mm Jack socket and there is a balanced line output on XLR socket (return feed), with output level adjustment. There is a 9 memory phonebook. A right angle aerial is included on a standard SMA aerial connector that allows different aerials to be connected. Battery powered from 4 x AA cells (run time approx. 4 hours) or via an external DC plug top power supply.
