New from winter NAMM, the Manley Core Reference Channel Strip. The Core is a 2U analogue channel strip for 2014, sporting a Class A tube mic pre, compressor, equalizer, and limiter. Massive headroom, quality sound, great combination of features, rugged made in the USA build quality and all at a very affordable price.
Manley have focused on making the interface intuitive and accessible right from the start, making it easy and hassle free for users of all skill levels to achieve great quality sounds. Meaning you can focus on the performance, and not get bogged down in the technical details. Plus with an estimated UK RRP of £1495+VAT, there's never been a better time to introduce a piece of Manley gear to your signal chain.
The CORE's signal path starts with a ELOP® based, fixed 3:1, bypassable compressor located before the mic pre (a Class-A all-triode vacuum tube based original design built upon circuitry in the CORE's big brother - the Manley VoxBox) making it virtually impossible to clip. The DI, which is very similar to the one used in Manley's SLAM! is an all-discrete solid-state circuit with 10 Meg Ohm impedance. Great for those high impedance guitars, basses and keyboards.
The EQ is a new solid-state Baxendall design for the company with high and low ±12dB range shelves as well as a sweep-able midrange bell curve with selections between 100Hz - 1kHz and 1kHz - 10kHz across a ±10dB range.
There's also a fixed, fast-attack, brickwall FET limiter with continuously variable threshold and release plus output makeup over a 10dB range for gain control. And lastly, the CORE holds a super-cool, large, analogue VU meter which you can switch to show input, output or gain reduction levels.
The Manley Core is expected to ship around May /June. View it on our web store.
